Ronald Eric Wentling, age 64, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. Born on July 28, 1961, in El Dorado, Kansas, Ron was a devoted father, adored grandfather, loving brother, uncle, and friend who leaves behind a lifetime of love and cherished memories.
Ron was a first-chair violinist and an exceptionally gifted musician. His ability to bring music to life on multiple instruments was a true gift. He dedicated 46 years of his life to Dillons, taking great pride in his work and reflecting a strong sense of loyalty and work ethic. He was full of life and lived each day to the fullest, bringing energy, laughter, and jokes to those around him, and was often the first to warn you when a storm was coming. He loved fishing, nature, and playing pool, finding joy in life's simple moments. Above all, Ron loved his family deeply and made sure they always felt it. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his humor, kindness, and the love he gave so freely.
Ron is survived by his two daughters, Erica (Derek) Whitney and Emily (Jonathan) Debrick, and their mother, Jan Wentling, who will carry his spirit and memories forward. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Klay, Khloe, Aubrianne, Anderson, and John; and his siblings, Christa Wentling (Brad), Randy (Kim) Wentling, Rik Wentling, Patrick (Stephanie) Wentling, Mark Wentling, Malcom Wentling, Mario Wentling, Ethne Barnes, and Bob (Robyn) Detert.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Wentling; his mother, Alice Wentling; and his sister, Diane Ballard.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Smith Family Mortuaries, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037.
