Ronald Alan Sweat, 58, of Kapaa, HI, passed away peacefully at his home on May 18, 2026. He was born May 24, 1967 in Tulsa, OK. to Ron and Becky Sweat. What transpired between May of 1967 and May of 2026 could and should be a movie! Alan had a rebel spirit and a thirst for adventure and laughs.
Let there be no doubt that if you were in Alan’s company there would be laughs! Alan began his professional career working at a horse farm at the young age of 14. There Alan would learn the value of hard work, the birds & the bees, how to chew Redman and lose his wages playing poker in a single wide trailer. Later, Alan had many jobs, including working in the restaurant business, farming, ski lift operator and mechanic, fireplace installation, brew master, boat sales, aircraft windshield repair, and ultimately as a General Contractor. He also earned a degree from Wichita State University. Everything was an adventure and Alan lived every moment of his life to the fullest on his terms! The stories and his legacy will live forever.
Alan will be deeply remembered for his work ethic, his kindness, his humor and his zest for life. Alan had a unique ability to adapt and fit in amongst any class of people from any background in any part of the world. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and loved sharing stories about them. His remarkable memory allowed him to recall even the smallest details, bringing to life countless stories about the friends he cherished. Alan’s friendships were very dear to him and he had many from all over the world. He had a deep love for animals and they loved him, especially his beloved dogs Deacon and Kea.
Alan is survived by his beloved mother, Becky LaVergne; bonus mom, Cathy Arbuckle; sister, Marni Morrow; brother, Ryan Sweat (wife, Michelle); nieces, Lindsey Lynch and Loren Sweat; and nephews, Bo Lynch, Luke Sweat (wife, Emersyn), and Layne Sweat.
He was preceded in death by his father Ron Sweat.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly suggest donations be made to Beauties and Beasts, 136 S. Pattie, Wichita, KS 67211.
