Ronald Lee Smith, 83, passed away January 19, 2025, finding final rest after a number of years with many health struggles. He was born December 31, 1941, to Norville Smith and Roberta Beaumont Smith at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. They moved to a house on south Mosley when he was seven where he lived all but 10 years of his life.
Ron enjoyed telling stories related to the adventures of growing up in the 1940’s and 1950’s, with even more stories to tell of his adult years. Fishing and bird hunting in southeastern Kansas were among his favorite activities, which he spent many happy days doing. Ron worked his nearly 40- year career in the aircraft industry as a machinist. Most of these years were in the 3212 manual mill shop at Boeing in Wichita, KS, from which he retired in the late 1990’s.
After retirement he enjoyed an Alaskan cruise, a guided fishing trip in Canada, playing cards with friends and family, and watching the Chiefs play through the good and bad years.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are children Rhonda (Randy King) Loper Wichita, Randall Smith (Denise) of Shellknob, MO, Mike Smith (Alecia) Wichita, April Ortiz of Phoenix, AZ, Travis Denham of the Philippines, sister Kay Case of FL along with stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
