Roger Lee Johnson

Roger Lee Johnson, 73 of Haysville, Kansas passed away January 3rd, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. Roger was the son of Evelyn Juanita “Pat” (Bortz) and William ”Bill” Oscar Johnson born on November 22, 1947 in Preston, Kansas. After high school in Preston, KS, Roger attended a year of college at Pratt Community College before enlisting in the Air Force in 1967. Roger served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970. After his service, Roger took a job with the City of Wichita. He met the love of his life soon after and married Linda (Howell) Johnson and gained a daughter, Angela. Linda and Roger married August 26, 1972 in Wichita, Kansas. Roger and Linda welcomed a daughter, Rhonda in 1973. Roger continued to work for the City of Wichita in the Department of Public Works as Heavy Equipment Operator II, Labor Supervisor II and General Supervisor II where he retired after 35 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR racing, cheering on the KC Chiefs, traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Pat Johnson, Ronal D Johnson (brother) and Jacob Johnson (grandson). He is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson, daughters Angela Smith (Scott) and Rhonda Wroten, and grandchildren Cassidy (Kyle), Connor, Cameron and Abby. A memorials has been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside St., Wichita KS 67219 or Resurrection Lutheran Church, 3850 W 71st St S, Haysville, KS 67060. Services are planned for Jan 16that 1 pm at Resurrection Lutheran church, 3850 W. 71st St South, Haysville, KS. Interment will follow at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Kellogg, Wichita KS.
