Derby - Polson, Robert "Bob" Lloyd
80, passed away Friday, January 31st, 2025. He was born August 7th,1944 to Lloyd Polson and Grace Statler Polson in Washington, Iowa.
Beginning in high school Bob was a hard worker and worked many jobs. After high school he worked at Otasco and Boeing. He was then drafted into the Army to serve his country in Vietnam from 66-69. After returning to the states he started his own trucking company that became a life long career for 50 years hauling sand and gravel. He was a car enthusiast of all kinds but was drawn to the drag strip where he enjoyed racing his 69 Camaro. Later in life his passion for drag racing turned his son Bobby on to the Junior Drag Racing League. As his son’s Crew Chief, Bob spent many years with his family Drag Racing around the surrounding states. If not tinkering in the shop or doing outside activities, he would be cheering on the Dallas Cowboys as he was a life time fan. He was a man of many stories that always made people smile and laugh. He was a devoted Husband and Father that gave his family everything he could; including making the love of his life so happy while dancing in the kitchen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Grace Polson; wife, Sophie Polson; siblings, Nancy Groshong; nephew, Eddie Groshong; niece, Tracy Bartley
Bob is survived by his wife, Kimberly Polson; children, Kerri (Steve) Bloyd, Larry Gaines, Bobby (Chelsea) Polson; grandchildren, Dylan, Lucas, Olivia, Abby, Roman; siblings, Doretta Thomas
Memorial Service: 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Smith Mortuary, Derby 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Homes for Heroes
