Robert Paul Nelson

Robert Paul Nelson, better known as Bob, 80, of Mulvane, Kansas, passed away peacefully in his home on May 31st, 2025.

He was born February 14th, 1945 to Joe Nelson and Ruth VanCleave Nelson in Aberdeen, SD. Following his parents and the warm sunny weather he moved down to Garden City, KS where he met his wife Sharon Sloan. They married on August 12th, 1967. His job led them to Dodge City, KS where they raised their two children. After 31 years he retired from Southwestern Bell. The love for their five grandchildren brought them to Mulvane, KS to allow them to be more involved. He was often found fixing or improving something around the house. Bob loved camping, riding motorcycles, and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ethel Floan Nelson; and stepbrother, Hollis Trongaard. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Sloan Nelson, Mulvane, KS; his daughter, Detra Nelson Lauderbaugh (Scott Lauderbaugh), Mulvane, KS; his son Tod Nelson (Melissa Kliesen Nelson), Mulvane, KS; his grandchildren, Quentin Nelson, Matraisa Lauderbaugh, Tyler Nelson, Shelton Lauderbaugh, and Teanna Nelson.

Visitation is on Tuesday June 10th, 2025 from 5-7pm at Smith Family Mortuary, 501 East Louis Boulevard, Mulvane, KS. Funeral service will be at 10am on Wednesday June 11th, 2025 at Mulvane United Methodist Church, 107 South Central Avenue, Mulvane, KS. Graveside services to follow at Littleton Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Mulvane United Methodist Church, 107 South Central Avenue Mulvane, KS.
