Maxton, Robert Edward “Bud”, 85, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, in Wichita, KS. He was born June 17, 1928, in Maxbass, North Dakota, the oldest of five children. Bud retired from Boeing Aircraft in 1992, after 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, with service during the Korean War. Bud was known throughout the world through his life long hobby of amateur radio (W0EKZ), working his radios in his railroad depot in Belle Plaine. He was a great dancer, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and reading books and the morning paper. He was a loving husband and father, and enjoyed time with his wife and family. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Maxton and Mable Ellen (Eamon) Maxton; his brothers James Clarence Maxton and Laurence Lee Maxton. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pat K. (Gleeson) Maxton, and his seven children; Mike (Wanda), Katie, Patrick (Hui), Jim (Karen), Danny (Cindy), Molly, and Charlie (Eden); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Savelkoul and Jeannie Jaman; sister-in-law Judy (Don) Scown, and many loving relatives and friends. Rosary: 6pm Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Funeral Mass: 10am Thursday, July 11, 2013, both at St. Michael Catholic Church, 545 E. Main, Mulvane. Viewing prior to Rosary and Mass at the church.
