Robert Michael "Mike" Frazier

Oct 24, 1949 — Sep 25, 2026

Wichita, Kansas

Robert Michael “Mike” Frazier, 76, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away at his home on September 25, 2026.

Mike was born October 24, 1949, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Otis C. and Amelia R. Frazier. He was the oldest of five children.

Mike lived much of his life with the effects of polio, but he never allowed disability to define the boundaries of what a meaningful life could be. Through the way he lived, he quietly taught those around him lessons about perseverance, dignity, independence, inclusion, and the importance of creating a life that fits one’s own needs and circumstances.

Mike was known for being friendly and somewhat quiet. He was a faithful member of Grace Assembly Church. He enjoyed HAM radio and spent his childhood and much of his adult years as a member of the Church of Our Savior in Jacksonville, Illinois, and later settled into the community with Grace Assembly, where he found friendship, support, and a chosen family.

He worked at Custom Cupboards and lived much of his adult life in Jacksonville, Illinois and later moved to Wichita, Kansas to help care for his mother Amelia.

Mike experienced significant loss throughout his life, including the passing of both of his parents and all of his siblings. Even so, he continued building a life, maintaining connections, and finding community with the people around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Amelia Frazier, and his siblings, David Frazier, Danny Frazier, Mary Hastie, and Patrica Hastie, and his nephew Evert L. Hastie III.

Mike is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Candice Frazier of California, Larry Hastie (Laurie) of Florida, J.D. Hastie of Ohio, Layna Funk (Don) of Florida, Kim Frazier of Texas, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, several cousins, extended family, friends, and members of his church community.

He will be remembered not only for the challenges he endured, but for the life he continued to build in spite of them, and for the quiet lessons he left behind about dignity, belonging, inclusion, acceptance, and the importance of showing up for one another.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Assembly on October 17 at 10:00 AM.

He will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery.
