Nathan Cook

September 7, 1973 — February 6, 2021

Nathan Cook 47, passed away Saturday, February 6th, 2021. He was born September 7th, 1973 to Patricia and Albert Cook in Wichita, Kansas. Nathan lost his battle to numerous health conditions. His daughter Haylee was there in his final moments as went to his heavenly home.

Nathan grew up in Haysville, KS. In his short 47 years he nurtured many lifelong friendships and held his family near and dear to his heart. Nathan went out of his way to help in any way he could, from stray animals who needed nurturing or the failing health of his parents, Nathan always put their needs before his. Nathan kept his family as his number one priority through the years with this same caring nature.

When Nathan had time to himself he enjoyed the outdoors this included fishing, hunting and horseback riding. He will be remembered by Robert Standifer, Tim Long, and Barry Latham from their childhood mischief to more recent hunting trips. Nathan also enjoyed riding his motorcycle when conditions were right, whether it be a Saturday poker run with his son in-law, or just to hit the open road with Barry. Nathan also enjoyed spending time at the range with his many different firearms and teaching others marksmanship. Haylee remembers her father from their Camp Wood days where they would partake in trail rides and cookouts. He also enjoyed leading trail rides for the camp, and he tended to the horses during the summer. He always said “ No matter how hot it was, no matter how much it hurt, I could always be out with those horses.”

Nathan is preceded in death by his father Albert Lee Cook. He is survived by his mom Patricia Cook; Sister Sherrie (Tim) D’Arelli; nephew Elijah D’Arelli; Brother like cousin Robert Standifer; Daughter Haylee (Devon) Rogers; Grandson Clayton Rogers; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Haysville, Kansas.

Per Nathan’s request, a casting ceremony to scatter his ashes will be held privately at Camp Wood where he found some of his happiest moments in life.
