Bob Bloss, 84, passed away peacefully at home October 15, 2020. He was born September 30, 1936 in Wellsville, KS, to Willard and Lena (Lidikay) Bloss. He spent his childhood growing up in Wellsville, graduating from Wellsville High School in 1954. From there he began a career working for the airline industry that would span over 40 years, initially with Braniff and then retiring from United Airlines on September 30, 2001. His time at the airlines was interrupted by a two year tour of duty with the US Army Military Police. In retirement, Bob spent his newfound free time working. Yard work, home repair, auto repair, child transport…if there was a job to do, Bob would find it and Bob would do it. Whether at home, at church, or at the homes of family and friends, countless people benefitted from Bob’s tireless work ethic, dedication to the wellbeing of others, and his joy in a job well done. More than likely, if you knew Bob you have something in your household that he has either repaired or replaced. Bob had a love of westerns, so it is only fitting that one of the traits that characterized his entire life was true grit. His life and legacy is one of selfless hard work, fueled by the desire to show his love of God and love for others through acts of service. Simply put (and Bob would want it put simply, for he was also a plainspoken man), Bob was steadfast. “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12 Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Junior and Sandy Bloss; and his sister, Mary Bloss. Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughters, Saber Marks (Steve) and Amber Poteete (Jake); stepson, Doug Lipperd (Anne); stepdaughter, Denise Maples (Chad); grandchildren, Hayley Marks, Conner Poteete, Jeron Poteete, Breann Poteete, Josh Lipperd, Sarah Kate Lipperd, Samuel Lipperd, Josiah Lipperd, Michelle Quinones, Elena Quinones, Nicolas Quinones, Chris Maples and James Maples. Private services will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 8021 W. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67205; Serenity Hospice, 3221 N. Toben, Wichita, KS 67226.
