Rickey L. Smith

Rickey L. Smith, 62, retired construction worker, passed away at home in Wichita, KS, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. He was born in Salina, Kansas to Mary Ann and Thomas Harlan Smith and raised in Newton, KS. Rickey liked to fish, dance, travel and make sand cast candles. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Shirley; step-father, Don Biggerstaff; sisters, Sherry Mayhill (Terry), Jeri Stucky (Tony Gooden), Barbara Metz (Jimmy), Brenda Hicks (Roe), Jana Morrison (Roger), Tammy Wyse (Dennis); brother; Don Smith (Helen), half-sisters, Georganne Weeks, Marianne Sanderson, Ann Mills; half-brother, Hal Smith He also had one son Brian and a daughter Shannacy; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; miniature poodles Mishem and Zebula. His parents and brothers, Mike and Fred Smith preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, December 1, 2013, First United Church of Christ, 210 E. 4th, Newton. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Charitable contributions may be made to: American Red Cross, Salvation Army or First United Church of Christ.
