Richard Howard Young, Jr.

Udall- Young, Richard Howard Jr., 79. Howard was welcomed at Heaven’s gates by his wife Shirley and son Jeff on April 13th, 2021. He was born July 24th, 1941 to Richard Howard, Sr. and Laura Young in Kingman, KS. Howard married his high school sweetheart, Shirley, on November 1st, 1958. They then headed to California. They made their home and raised their three children in Westminster, California. Howard and Shirley owned and operated H&S Construction together for many years. At which time Howard was a heavy equipment operator specializing in operating bulldozers. After raising their children, Howard and Shirley moved back to Kansas where they established Young’s Farms outside of Udall. In his pastimes Howard enjoyed raising cattle, land development, and teaching anyone who was willing to learn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Young; son, Jeff Young; parents, Richard Howard Young, Sr. and Laura Young; and brother, Robert Young. Howard is survived by his daughter, Brenda O’Hare; son Kevin (Dawn) Young; grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Young, Megan (Patrick) Goethals, and Travis Young; 9 great-grandchildren; extended family, Brett and Teresa Russell, their children Joshua (Jennifer) Russell and Amanda (Kevin) Conrad. Special thanks to our "Angel", Laci Villa. Visitation: Friday, April 23rd, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm at Smith Family Mortuary, 501 SE Louis Bld. Mulvane, KS 67110. Funeral Service: 1pm Saturday, April 24th, 2021 at Smith Family Mortuary-Mulvane. Burial will take place at Ninnescah Cemetery, Udall, KS.
