Richard Lee "Poppy" Reagan, 82, passed away on April 13, 2026, at Via Christi Village in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 27, 1943, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Martha Leslie (McCoy) and John Kenneth Reagan.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth and Jerry; and his brother-in-law, Melvin Clutter.
He is survived by his former wife, Linda; his son, David; and his daughter, Susan Piper (Jeff), all of Wichita; his grandchildren, Brad Piper (Kelsey) of Omaha, Nebraska; Jonathan "Jack" Piper (Kylie) of Goddard, Kansas; and Lindley Piper (Bill) of Americus, Kansas; his great-grandchildren, Miles and Ashton Piper; his sister, Mary Clutter of Nixa, Missouri; his brother, John (Patsy) of Tavares, Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was raised in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School. He proudly served in the Kansas Army National Guard as an Ordnance Supply Specialist. In the early 1960s, he moved to Wichita, where he worked for Koch Fiberglass Products and raised his family. He later returned to Pittsburg in the late 1990s and was briefly employed by Castlegate Inc.
In his later years, Richard was well known around Pittsburg for servicing car washes, assisting with fishing bait maintenance for Bo's 1 Stop, and providing transportation services and other support for Neptune Auto Repair Center. He was also a familiar sight driving around town in his blue Ford Ranger pickup, proudly displaying the vanity license plate "Poppy."
To know Richard was to love him. He was a quiet, kind, and thoughtful man whose children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He cherished his family deeply and even saved every letter ever written to him.
Richard enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting, and studying genealogy. He was also a devoted history enthusiast, with a particular interest in military history-but most of all, he enjoyed his Twinkies.
While he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with those who have gone before him.
At Richard's request, the graveside service and burial will be private. No other services are planned.
