Richard Dean Owens

On Thursday, August 5th 2021, Richard Dean Owens, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 79.

Richard was born on November 27th, 1941 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Jim and Aliene Owens. He is an alumni of Blackwell High School, class of 1959. On November 12, 1961, he married his lifelong sweetheart Juanita Kay Smith. They raised three sons; Warren, Kevin and Justin.

Richard spent many years as a route salesman and supervisor with Rainbo Bakery. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and was a passionate Oklahoma Sooner football fan. He was also known for his tinkering skills that could fix almost anything.

Richard was preceded in death by his father Jim, mother Aliene and sister Joelene Houston. He is survived by his wife Juanita, his three sons: Warren and his wife Julie, Kevin, and Justin and his wife Amy, two grandchildren: Jordan Bird and her husband William Bird, and Ryan Owens, along with three great-grandchildren: Korie, Charlie and Sammie.

A memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society.
