Rex Vernon Swaney

Rex Vernon Swaney, 74, passed away August 26th, 2025. He was born January 17, 1951, to Roy Virgil Swaney and Mary Mava Swaney (Brown) in Wichita, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mava and Roy Swaney; his brothers, Jim and Gary Swaney; and his sister, Joann Swaney Linot.

Rex deeply loved his family, children, and grandchildren. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, mowing, and nearly any activity that allowed him to be outside.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Swaney; his three children, Lindsey Swaney, Brandon Swaney, and Misty Swaney, along with their partners and children. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Destiny Combs, Brooklyn Combs, Abrielle Combs, and Paisley Hensley.

In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Judy Swaney New and her husband David, Ronney Swaney and his wife Pat, Burt Swaney, and Arwine Swaney, as well as his sister-in-law, Betty Swaney.

Rex passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Visitation 5-7pm Thursday, August 28, with Funeral services 2pm Friday, August 29, all at Smith Mortuary in Derby.
