Rex Aaron Sturgeon

June 24, 1960 — March 21, 2025

Rex Aaron Sturgeon, 64, of Belle Plaine, KS, passed away on March 21, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 24, 1960, in Corydon, Indiana, he was the beloved son of Maxey and Irene Sturgeon.

Rex grew up with a love for basketball, track, and band, which shaped his youth and created lifelong memories. After graduating high school in 1978, he proudly served his country by joining the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Rex pursued a career as a skilled diesel mechanic and truck driver, showcasing his hard-working nature and dedication.

Rex faced a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibroses, showing resilience and strength throughout. He enjoyed attending family gatherings, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, and welcoming the arrival of his great-grandson Easton, creating cherished moments and a legacy of love.

Rex was preceded in death by his father Maxey Sturgeon, mother Irene Sturgeon (Francis), and brother Duane Sturgeon.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carole Sturgeon, and his loving children: Michael (Lori) Colvin of Mulvane, KS, Aaron (Dawn) Sturgeon of Belle Plaine, KS, Chris (Jessica) Colvin of Wichita, KS, Hank (Melanie) Sturgeon of Belle Plaine, KS, and Kristy (Gary) Bell of Noble, OK.

Rex is also survived by his sister, Reva Wilkins of Leavenworth, IN, as well as 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
