Raymond Leo Bujarski, Sr.

June 26, 1931 — November 28, 2023

Our dear father, friend and comrade Raymond L. Bujarski, Sr., 92, died peacefully with his youngest son, Raymond Jr. and daughter Joanne by his side in Florida Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Although he lived his last year in Florida near three of his children, ceremonies will be held in Wichita, Kansas.

Visitation: 6pm-8pm at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Please join the family for the Rosary at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 124 N. Roosevelt St, Wichita, KS on Friday, December 15th at 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin following the Rosary at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 610 South Vassar, Wichita, KS. Raymond appreciated that he was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ray graduated from Catholic High School then attended Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN before receiving his commission and wings as a multi-engine land-based patrol bomber pilot for the U.S. Navy. Ray graduated in Pensacola, FL before reporting for duty in Patuxent River, MD for the Korean war.

Affable and witty, Ray honed his jokestering while excelling at University of Wichita (WSU) for his aerospace engineering degree. He was an active member of Men of Webster Fraternity, Knights of Columbus & NSAE before heading to California to design spacecraft to the moon then fighter jets. This was followed by rocket & helicopter design then back to Wichita, Kansas for missiles & a variety of new aircraft designs at Learjet (Bombardier), The Boeing Company, Cessna (Textron) and Spirit Aerosystems, Inc. Ray Sr. relished multi-faceted team projects where craft stability/control was the problem to solve.

Ray Sr. was always invested in the interests of each of his 5 children and raised them almost entirely as a single father due to the early death of his first wife, Ruth. He was a devoted volunteer at his parishes and in his faith. Ray Sr. enjoyed home improvements, photography, woodworking and airplane/model train memorabilia collecting.

His survivors include sons, John (Katie), Edward (Lourdes), Raymond Jr., and daughters, Susanne (Byron Jay, deceased) and Joanne (David) and grandchildren RJ Hines, Andrew Bujarski, J Eric Bujarski, Kevin Bujarski, Lillian Bujarski and Gracie Bujarski Brooks. Raymond Sr. is preceded in death by his wives Ruth and Patricia, brothers A.C. and James and sister Mary along with mother and father Gertrude (Trudy) and Alvin C. Bujarski Sr.
