Ray Edwin Smith

Ray Edwin Smith, 94, of Derby, KS entered his Heavenly reward on October 23, 2021. He was born June 17, 1927 in Ozark County, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters and his wife of almost 70 years, Norma Jean Mallow Smith. They were married on August 17, 1946 in Mt. Home, Arkansas. Together they raised two children, Patricia Jean Veatch (Jerry) of Searcy, AR, and Daryle Ray Smith (Kathy) of Conway Springs, KS. Ray had 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He loved them all dearly.

Ray was an active member of the Derby Church of Christ for over 60 years, serving as songleader and elder for many of those years. Ray enjoyed gospel singing, country music, going fishing, doing woodcarving and visiting with family and friends.

Services will be conducted Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 1:00 pm, at the Derby Church of Christ. Visitation will begin at noon. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Derby Church of Christ.
