Wellemeyer, Philipp “Doobie” L., 25, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014. Doobie’s love for life was contagious. He was an extraordinarily devoted husband, caring brother, loving son, and an enthusiastic friend. He approached everything passionately: life, his faith, his family, his work, and his hobbies. He touched the lives of countless people with his contagious joy and took pride in helping his community. He was an Eagle Scout, an outdoorsman, an athlete, and a talented mechanic who turned his gift for rebuilding cars into a business. He was preceded in death by his mother, DeAnn Wellemeyer. Philipp is survived by his wife, Katherine Wellemeyer; father, Robert Wellemeyer; siblings, Gerard Wellemeyer, Danielle (Nick Greusel) Wellemeyer, Corinne “Juju” Wellemeyer, and Barret Wellemeyer; grandmother, Doris Puckett; parents-in-law, Todd and Shirley Drouhard; 7 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law. Visitation: Wednesday, 3 – 8 p.m. with family present 5 – 7 p.m. at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Memorial Service: 10 am, Thursday, February 20, 2014 at South Rock Christian Church, 900 S. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. A private family graveside service will occur later at Hillcrest Cemetery.
