Patrick John Calligan

Patrick John Calligan, 70, retired USAF Lt. Col., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Visitation 1-8pm today, Thursday, January 17,2013 with family greeting friends 6-8pm at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Pat was born in Fort Dodge, IA on February 10, 1942 and raised in Rolfe, IA. He graduated from Buena Vista College joining the Air Force in 1964. In 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Fran Madsen. His Air Force overseas tours included England and Greenland. Pat also earned his MBA from the University of Missouri. After retiring from the Air Force in 1987, he and Fran settled in Derby, KS. Pat earned his CPA and worked at Boeing retiring in 2005. He put both of his children through college at Kansas State University and was an avid K-State fan. Pat loved sports, history, travel and spending time with his family. Survivors: wife, Fran; daughter, Kristin Sen (Murat) of Derby; son, Dan Calligan of Bristol, CT; grandson, Noah Patrick Sen; brothers, Michael Calligan (Kaye) of Altus, OK., Dennis Calligan (Sandra) of Norman, OK. Funeral Mass: 10:30am Tuesday, January 22, 2013, St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Rolfe, IA. The visitation will be held Monday evening at Powers Funeral Home, 500 Garfield, Rolfe, IA. A memorial is established with the American Heart Association.
