Pat was born in Wichita, KS on November 29, 1949 to the late Frank and Mary (Castro) Navarro. Pat was raised in Derby, KS with her three siblings where she attended St Mary Catholic School and graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in 1967. Pat married the love of her life, late William “Bill” Hand, on October 4, 1969 at St Mary
Parish in Derby where she was a life-long member. During their 53 years of marriage, their love and devotion was the foundation for their family while raising their three sons. She worked for 30 years, most notably with Southwestern Bell and Derby High School where she made many life-long friends.
Pat enjoyed music, movies, dining out, chocolate, all things cherry, family gatherings with authentic Mexican food, cross-stitching, shopping and supporting her children and grandchildren’s sports and activities. She was surrounded by boys and sports activities most of her life until her granddaughters were born into the family. Her grandkid’s passions became her passions, and she loved to spend as much time with the grandkids as possible and was known to dance, play music or whatever activity was popular that day! Pat’s life was defined by an unconditional devotion to her family, putting their needs above her own. The family considered her to be a “loving boss” bringing a high level of energy to her activities including being organized and cleanly. She could be seen from time to time praying to St Anthony over some items she misplaced!
Pat loved staying active and had many life-long friend groups from elementary school, high school and her many social circles. She would often tell family about social engagements with “the girls” which left them wondering which group of friends she was with that day. If not with “the girls” or her family, Pat and Bill would often be seen sitting with neighbors in their driveway or supporting St Mary Parish.
Despite some health setbacks, she never complained or let the issues define her. Her toughness was an inspiration to her entire family. In the end, she was excited to be reunited with Bill again in life eternal.
Pat is survived by her sons, Tom (Laura), Mike (Katie), and Joe (Stacy); grandchildren, Griffin, Lucy, Grier, Reid, Gannon, Chase and Cameron; siblings, Jim (Marie) Navarro, Lisa Navarro, John Navarro; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Mary Catholic Church Building Fund.
