Holmes, Marlaine (Palmer), 79, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. She was born November 10, 1937 in Smith Center, KS to Arlie and Lola (Maydew) Palmer. She married Jim Holmes on December 31, 1962 in Smith Center. Her work as a nurse for many years was one of her most fulfilling accomplishments. After retiring, Marlaine and Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends and attending their grandchildren’s activities. They were active members of the Haysville First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Palmer; mother and step-father, Lola and A.D. Soaps; and brother, Mark (Dorothy) Palmer. Survivors include husband, Jim; son Trey (Dee) Holmes; grandchildren, Kayse Holmes, Travis (McKenzie) Holmes, Trevor (Ann) Holmes; great-grandchildren, Hudson Holmes and baby to be Holmes. Celebration of Life Service: 11am, Wednesday, March 15, First Christian Church, 7465 S. Meridian, Haysville. Memorials are established with the church and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Arrangements with Smith Mortuary, Haysville.
