Doramus, Orville Kenneth, Jr., 77, passed away on February 21, 2026. He was born to parents, Orville and Evelyn Doramus on April 6, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas.
Ken was a proud graduate of South High School in Wichita, Kansas, where he built lifelong friendships. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he carried with great pride. Ken had a long and successful career in management at Boeing. Ken had a deep appreciation for classic automobiles. He especially enjoyed taking his ‘55 Chevy Bel Air to car shows and driving his beloved Corvette whenever he had the chance. Family meant everything to Ken. He treasured traveling with his loved ones to Colorado, where the mountains and fresh air created lasting memories. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He faithfully traveled to their sporting events, cheering them on from the stands and supporting them in every way he could. Being present for their milestones and accomplishments brought him immense pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Doramus; and sister, Chris Rausch.
Ken is survived by his son, Ken (Alesia) Doramus; daughter, Jerilynn (Mark) Ortiz; grandchildren, Payton (Ashley) Doramus, Brandon (Laurie) Doramus, Mark Ortiz, Jr., Patricia (CJ) Wittsell, Dakota Ortiz, Felicia Ortiz; great-grandchildren, Maeve and Ayla Doramus, Ryan, Juliet, Olivia, Amelia, Leon, Dustin, Gabriel and Julian Ortiz; sisters, Marie (Butch) LeVelle and Pat Bushyhead; and his beloved dog companion, Minnie.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 27, 2026, with visitation one hour prior to service, both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 South Market Street, Wichita, Kansas 67202 or Kansas Humane Society, 3313 North Hillside Street, Wichita, Kansas 67219.
