Norman C. Worthington

February 21, 1953 — November 25, 2022

Norman Charles Worthington, 69, formerly of Auburn, CA entered the presence of God on Nov. 25th, 2022 after a valiant battle with lung cancer. He was born Feb. 21, 1953 to Harley and Eleanor Worthington in San Francisco, CA.

He grew up in the Salinas, CA area and graduated from Alisal High School in 1971. He spent as much time as possible in the Metal Arts workshop. He also worked after school at an artichoke ranch. Frequently, he would refer to that job as his favorite.

He then worked as a mechanic for a power company. This was followed by employment in the hydro-electric industry and electric power brokerage for the remainder of his career.

In 1978 he married Ellen Anderson. They had one daughter, Emily. She and her husband Ron reside in Mulvane, KS with their three children, Vivian, Miles and Rigel.

Then they had three sons. Andrew and his wife Emily live in Des Moines, IA with their son Jonathan. Jeffrey and his wife Leah who have four children, Todd, Felicia, Luke and Natalie, live in Fernley, NV. David and his wife Nicole live in Groton, CT.

During their 44 years of their marriage, Norm enjoyed traveling, landscaping, and restoring vintage Plymouth cars. He also enjoyed tackling large projects. His love of pipe organ music led to his dismantling two church organs and then having an organ builder install one in his home. Prior to that he had his home relocated to a wooded area nearby and then began extensive remodeling. He volunteered at Living Well Medical Clinic in Grass Valley, CA and he also enjoyed maintaining the grounds at Cornerstone Community Church in Auburn, CA.

He was an industrious man who loved laughing with others. He loved God and desired for others to know God. He stood firm in his convictions. He encouraged others to never stop learning and to never give up on God.

He greatly appreciated the care he received from Dr. Nabbout, the Kansas Cancer Center, Security Home Health and Good Shepherd Hospice. His desire to fight the cancer and his positive attitude encouraged others.

He is predeceased by his father, Harley Worthington. Survivors include his mother, Eleanor Worthington, brothers Howard and Craig and sister Diane Hyde.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
