MULVANE- Corn, Norman W., age 92, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012. Visitation 1-8pm Monday at Senter-Smith Mortuary, 501 S.E. Louis Blvd., Mulvane. Funeral service 2pm Tuesday at Mulvane United Methodist Church, 107 S. Central, Mulvane. Norman was born February 2, 1920 in Andrews, Indiana to parents Roscoe and Ruth Corn. He moved to Paola, KS in 1927, where he graduated from Paola High in 1938. Norman was in the 101st Airborn Division 377th Parachute Field Artillary Battalion where he was a Corporal. He entered the service on August 20th, 1941. and was discharged on October 27th, 1945. After getting out of the service he went to welding school in Kansas City. He then moved to Wichita and went to work for Beech Air Craft for 32 years, upon retiring in 1982. He lived outside of Mulvane and in 1966 he moved to town. He was a long time member of Mulvane United Methodist Church. He was involved with the Lions Club and Sumner County Historical Society, spent lots of time reading to 1st and 2nd graders, taught Sunday School Class and had lots of interesting Indian stories. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, R.R. and Ruth Corn. He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn States, Kathleen Reed, Doris Guinn, Hester Shivley, Marilyn Dillon and Janice Allen; 6 nieces and 7 nephews. A memorial has been established with the church.
