Norman E. Carpenter

July 29, 1925 — September 16, 2015

Carpenter, Norman Elmer, 90, son of Herbert and Beulah (Kent) Carpenter of Medford, Oklahoma, passed away in Haysville, September 16, 2015. He was a farmer, rancher, and rodeo stock contractor for 40+ years. Honorably served his country for 3 years in WWII on the USS San Juan and USS Macon as a Fireman 2nd Class. In that time, he receiced the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with three Bronze Stars. On August 21, 1951, he married Patsy E. Goodman in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She survives, as well as children Don (Nancy) of Derby, Bill (Emma) of Douglass, Jim (Brenda) of Kingman, and Norma Deckard of Rose Hill; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and his dog, Harley. Memorial service 10 a.m. Monday, September 21, at Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Gentiva Hospice, 2622 W Central Ave., Wichita, KS 67203.
