Norma Scharff

Norma Jean Scharff, age 91 of Rose Hill, KS, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. She was born on July 29, 1934, the only child of Herbert and Ola Annabelle Humphrey, in Dayton, OH. She graduated Kiser High School in 1952. She met and married Edward Scharff in 1951. They had four children, Cynthia L. in 1955, Mark E., 1956, David B., 1959, and Debra S., 1960.

They lived in Dayton (Kettering), OH until 1975 when they moved to Lawrenceville, GA for Ed to take a position with TEC America. Norma stayed in GA until 2018 when she moved to Rose Hill, KS to be with her daughter Debbie, where she joined the Rose Hill Methodist Church. She made many friends at the church and proudly helped with baking cookies for fundraisers and doing many other jobs at the church when she was able.

She became a Red Hat in 2019-20. She volunteered at the Rose Hill Senior Center serving breakfast on Saturday mornings.

Over the years, Norma worked as a school crossing guard, in banking as a bookkeeper, customer service, and inside sales. She also led Camp Fire Girls and Boy Scout meetings in her home. She retired in 2007.

Norma was preceded in death by her son David in 2015 and her husband Edward in 2017.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Bud) Troxel, Lakeland, FL; Mark (Terri) Scharff, Winter Haven, FL; and Debbie Mayo, Rose Hill, KS. Grandchildren Casey Troxel, Lakeland, FL; Courtney (Jarred) Simmons, Polk City, FL; Kristen Troxel, Lakeland, FL; Jason (Lina) Scharff, Suwanee, GA; Cory (Dorinda) Scharff, Powell, TN; and Tyler (Sierra) Scharff, Lynnwood, WA; and Great Grandchildren Colton and Sydney Scharff, Kellen, Payce, and Elsie Mae Scharff, Braxton Simmons and Cade Bennett Scharff.
