Nancy M Nolder

Nancy Louise Massmann Nolder was called home to Heaven by God, her Almighty Father, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a courageous battle with several health complications.

Nancy was born in New Rochelle, New York, to Jack and Patricia Massmann and was raised in the Presbyterian Church. Her faith remained an important part of her life.

As the daughter of a United States Air Force family, Nancy experienced a life of travel from an early age. Her family eventually settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the place Nancy would call home for many years.

Nancy attended and graduated from Cheyenne East High School, where she embraced school life with enthusiasm. She was active in cheerleading, diving, and gymnastics and, proudly served as the school mascot—the Mighty Thunderbird.

Nancy attended the University of Wyoming. During this chapter of her life, she married Richard Zimmerman, and together they welcomed her oldest daughter.

As an Air Force wife, she became actively involved in the Officers’ Wives Club, building friendships and a strong sense of community wherever military life took her. During these years, she also welcomed her two sons.

While living at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, Nancy met Ron Nolder, and later married. Together, they continued raising their family, and Nancy remained active in the Air Force community, ultimately serving as president of the Officers’ Wives Club. She also worked as a YMCA adult fitness instructor and an account manager for NBC television.

Nancy and Ron later relocated to Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. There, she worked as an office manager for a financial agency. Their family grew once more when they adopted their youngest daughter.

Life’s adventures eventually took Nancy and her family to Derby, Kansas, where they found a wonderful church home and congregation at First Presbyterian Church. Their travels also took them to Newalla, Oklahoma, before eventually bringing them back to Derby.

Nancy and Ron shared a love of travel throughout their life together. They spent many cherished years camping in Wyoming and traveling to visit their children and grandchildren in Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, and Florida. For Nancy, family was at the heart of these journeys, and the memories they created together will remain with those who loved her. Throughout her life, Nancy had a deep love for horses, and she was fortunate to see five of her dreams come true.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father, her older sister, and her younger brother.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 37 years, Ron Nolder; Her older brother John Massmann (June), her oldest daughter, Noranne Zimmerman, and her wife, Tamie Johnson; her oldest son, Richard Zimmerman, and his wife, Kim Zimmerman; her youngest son, Eric Zimmerman, and his wife, Cindy Zimmerman; and her youngest daughter, Joy Matthews, and her husband, Dan Matthews.

Nancy’s legacy also lives on through her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as the many extended family members, friends, church members, and military families whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Nancy’s life was one filled with faith, family, friendship, service, adventure, and resilience. From the many places she called home to the friendships she carried with her along the way, she created a life rich in experiences and relationships. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s honor to the American Diabetes Association, and the American Kidney Fund.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 6th, 2026 at 4:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church 324 N Baltimore Ave, Derby, KS 67037.
