Muriel I. Nixon passed away on February 27, 2026 at the Winfield Senior Living Community with family by her side.

Muriel was born near Claremore Oklahoma on June 24, 1922 to Tom and Alpha Jordan. She attended school near Claremore as well.

Muriel married Alfred J. Nixon when he returned from the war in 1945.The couple briefly made their home in Belle Plaine Kansas before moving to Douglass in 1950. Once they were married, Muriel worked as a homemaker while raising their 2 kids that soon followed. She loved her large family, the Lord and her church family. She loved crafts, especially crochet, quilting and spent a lot of time gardening and loved growing beautiful house plants.

She is survived by 2 children Judy Lacey of Arkansas city Kansas, Dane and Lynda Nixon of Maricopa Arizona, 6 grandchildren, Tonnie and Lance of Arkansas city Ks. Kim and Stacey of Arkansas city, Dana and Jon of Douglass Ks., Brian and Shannan of Arkansas City, Shondell and Kevin of Foley, AL, Kayla & Kris of Silverdale, KS, 13 Great-grandchildren & 18 Great-great grandchildren.

We are all comforted in knowing that She has been reunited with her husband Alfred, her 2 brothers, parents, grandparents & numerous family members and friends that have passed before her.

Funeral services 1:00pm Tuesday, March 3, at the First Baptist Church in Douglass, followed by interment in the Douglass Cemetery. A memorial is established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
