Michael Lovegrove

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael William Lovegrove, a talented hairdresser and cherished friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 56 on January 10, 2026. Born on January 1, 1970, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Michael was known for his exceptional skill, creativity, and passion for hairstyling, which he pursued for over three decades.

Michael began his career at a young age, quickly establishing himself in the Lawrence KS and Kansas City areas. He was not just a hairdresser; he was an artist who transformed his clients’ appearances and boosted their self-confidence. His warm personality and genuine care for others made every appointment feel special, and he built lasting relationships with his clients.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Maria G. Lovegrove. Michael is survived by his father, James T Lovegrove Sr, and his brother, James T. Lovegrove Jr., both of Derby, KS. His legacy of kindness and artistry will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. 

Funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 15th, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2300 E. Meadowlark Rd, Derby, KS. 67037. We kindly invite you to join us for refreshments following the Hillcrest Cemetery committal service. This will be an opportunity to gather, share memories, and support one another. Please join us at 11711 E 79th Street S, Derby, KS 67037, immediately after the last service.
