Michael Gene Leis

Michael Gene Leis, 64, Master plumber and business owner of Plumbing Doctor LLC, passed away Saturday December 25th, 2021 at his home after a brave battle with brain cancer.

Mike loved to work and was truly devoted to his wife, family and business.

In 1973, at the age of 16, Mike received his journeyman plumbing license and his master license in 1979. He was honest and dedicated to his customers always treating them with respect and loyalty. The love of working with his hands, farming and cattle taught his children and grandchildren many life skills and the benefits of hard work.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Marcus and Esther Leis. He is survived by his wife Louise, of 43 years, son Kevin (Melanie), daughter Shelly (Scott) and six grandchildren: Gage, Harper, Carley, Sophia, Timber and Michaela.

Siblings: Darrell (Linda) of Harrisonville, MO; Paul, of Douglass, KS; Beverly Rossio (Gary) of

San Diego, CA; Donna Meek (Terry) of Augusta, KS; Richard (Danette) of Rose Hill, KS; and Theresa Gray (Chris) of Douglass, KS.

Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Smith Mortuary, Derby KS. Recitation of the Rosary 10:00 am; Funeral Mass 10:30 am on Monday January 3, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church; 1012 Belmont Ave., Augusta, KS 67010. Interment following at Dunlap Cemetery, Rose Hill KS.
