Merlan Wesley Ward

Merlan Wesley Ward, 95, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014. Memorial

service 2 pm Wednesday, January 29, at Douglass United Methodist Church, 204 S.

Willow St., Douglass. Merlan served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, owned

and operated the Star movie theater in Douglass, was a member of Douglass

Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, and retired from Cessna Aircraft Company.

Preceded in death by a sister, Maxine. Survived by wife of 73 years, Polly;

sons Mark (Anita) Ward of Wichita, and Alan (Melody) Ward of Belle Plaine; four

grandchildren: Wesley Ward, Valerie Kreger, Justin Ward, Amanda Ward; and eight

great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with

Alzheimer’s Association, 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214.
