Melinda Deone Scott

Melinda Deone Scott, 68, was born on December 11, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, to Martha Roff and Thedus McLemore. She passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2026.

Melinda grew up in Augusta, Kansas. She had a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, spending time at the lake, gardening, and watching hummingbirds. She had a love for animals, especially horses and dogs. She loved riding motorcycles, traveling, and trying her luck at the casino.

Melinda worked as an office manager for the City of Derby for approximately ten years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Roff and Thedus McLemore.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steve; her children, Josh Gerdel and Taylor Boone; her stepchildren, Mike (Amanda) Scott, Chris (Kim) Scott, and Lea (Tyler) Nelson; her siblings, Joanne (Mike) Hermann and Jeff McLemore; 12 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

Public visitation will be held Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Smith Mortuary.
