Max E. Mclean

Max E. McLean, 74, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at his home. Max was manager for Safeway Stores, Inc. and Kraft Foods, retiring after 45 years of service. He was born in El Dorado, Kansas to Duncan and Rose Staggs McLean on September 12, 1936. Max was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. On July 29, 1954, he married Marion Hildebrand. To this union, four children were born. He later married Karin Ellis in April 1979. She died Oct. 6, 2010. He is also preceded in death by 3 brothers, D. Neal McLean, Jr., Lt. Col. Floyd McLean, Charles E. McLean; 3 sisters, Lillie M Chadwick, Ann Maddax, Marjorie Highfill; stepsons, Mike and Roger Ellis. Survivors include his children, Beth Fisk, Marcia English and her husband Mark, Cheri McLean, Daniel McLean and his wife Vicki; sister, Ruth Bell; stepdaughter, Ilona Thurston; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Services: 1pm, Friday, May 13, 2011, Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established with the American Lung Association.
