Max Armstrong

January 20, 1933 — December 14, 2018

Max L. Armstrong, age 85. Master Magician & Illusionist, Former Marine Corps Captain and Retired Wichita Police Department Captain, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2018.


Max earned a Master’s degree at WSU and taught Administration of Justice there for over 6 years. He was a Black Belt in Judo and taught self-defense for many years. Max took up running at the age of 65 and ran numerous marathons including, Pikes Peak, Boston, and at age 80 in The Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC. Max’s true passion was Magic. Performing all over the world, including summers at Santa’s Workshop, North Pole Co. for 49 years.


Visitation: Wednesday, December 19, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 20, 2018, both at Smith Mortuary, Derby.


He was preceded in death by his stepson Eric Clevenger.


Max is survived by his daughter, Tanya L. Frazier (Derek); stepsons, Mike Clevenger (Susan) and David Clevenger; three grandchildren, Blaine, Jaden, and Brayden Frazier; two step grandchildren, William Clevenger and Sonja Emerson (William); and longtime friend and partner in magic Connie Little.
