Elizabeth Kinch, 80, passed peacefully in her home Tuesday, September 21, 2021. She was born April 15, 1941 to William and Margaret Peters in Winfield, Kansas.
She graduated Winfield High School then went on to earn her Masters Degree in education from WSU. She taught school in Rose Hill for 15 years, and she taught elementary, middle, high school, and college classes.
Elizabeth served on the Derby School board and the Derby City council, Derby community foundation, Derby Recreation Commission, Delta Dental board of directors.
She was active in politics, and was a member of the Kansas Legislature from 1982-1992. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Lee Kinch; brother William Peters; and mother Margaret Peters.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons Larry Wilson of Manhattan and Rusty Wilson of Oxford; three grandchildren Abi Hager, Andrew Wilson, and Katie Wilson. She loved her pets, kids and grandkids.
Visitation: Friday, September 24, 2021, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Funeral: Saturday 1:00 pm, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd, Derby.
