Mary L. Freund

Mary L. Freund, 92, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025. Memorial Service: 10:30 am, Friday, March 14 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn Blvd., Derby. Private inurnment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

She was born March 18,1932 to Thomas Jefferson Gabbert, Jr. and Ella Wiegand Gabbert in St, Louis, Mo.

After graduating from Drury College in 1953, she married Roy L Freund. They were married 65 years until his passing in Oct. 2018.

She enjoyed being the librarian at Wineteer Elementary, after going back to school later in life and obtaining her Library Science degree.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents; and brother Thomas Jefferson Gabbert III.

Mary is survived by her children, Terry (Robbie) Freund, David (Marcia) Freund, and Andrea Henderson; grandchildren, Taylor Freund, Alex Freund, Connor Freund, and Emily Henderson; and sister Suzanne Collins.
