DOUGLASS-Wright, Marvin M., 84, passed to eternal life Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Visitation Sunday, 2-8 with Rosary at 6 p.m., all at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Faith Center, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman. He began as a Nebraska farm boy. Before retiring from 30 years in the Air Force, he bought a farm. He truly enjoyed raising horses, cattle, turkeys, and chickens. Beyond his military career, he also earned his Master’s Degree. He continued his love of learning by taking classes on Heating and Air Conditioning and Transmission Repair. In both subjects, he quickly took over the teaching of the courses. Preceded in death by a son, Bob Wright; sister Bonnie George; and brother Keith Wright. Marvin is survived by his wife, Gloria; children Kathy (Pete) Trickey, Greeneville, Tenn.; John (Melanie) Wright, Arkansas City; Debbi (Loren) Perry, Wichita; Bill (Keri) Wright, Fall River; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; siblings Lyle Wright, Lloyd Wright, Mary O’Brien, Eileen Frost, and Kermit Wright. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202, and Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67218.
