Martin Eugene Smithhisler

November 19, 1932 — December 13, 2016

Martin Eugene Smithhisler was born November 19, 1932 to George Smithhisler and Sarah (McCorgary) Smithhisler. He spent his earliest years of life in Danville, Kansas, and would later go on to attended High School at St. Gregory's Catholic High School for Boys in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Following the completion of high school, Martin served our country in the United States Army, worked for Boeing, worked for the state for 37 years, and finally, before retiring, he spent a number of years with Cook Flat and Stroble. Martin enjoyed various outdoor activities including golf, gardening, and working on the farm. He also loved spending time with his daughter and granddaughter. Martin passed away on December 13, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones. He was 84. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Sarah Smithhisler; siblings, Catherine Kretchmar, Elenor Brockelman, George Smithhisler, Dan Smithhisler, Bernie Smithhisler, and Raymond McCorgary. He is survived by his daughter; Desiree (John) Mazzoni; granddaughter, Shelby (Camron) Walter; grandson, Alec Mazzoni; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Owen, and Lilli Walter; sisters, Christine Kelley and Jane Fitch; loving extended family. Recitation of the Rosary 5pm Sunday Evening; Funeral Mass 10am Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 525 E Main St. Mulvane, Kansas. Burial to follow service at 1:30pm at Calvary Cemetery in Danville, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is with Heartland Home Healthcare and Hospice, 2872 N. Ridge Rd #122 Wichita, Ks 67205.
