Marlene L. Shoemaker

April 26, 1956 — February 29, 2012

Marlene L. Shoemaker, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the age of 55. In her life, she worked as a waitress, welder, and at Learjet. She had also owned Enchanted Florist and Candy Bouquet in Derby, and Little Aby's in Valley Center. She loved to sew, embroider and reading many books. Marlene loved to garden and take trips to area casinos, playing the slot machines. Camping, fishing, and candles were also some of the other things she enjoyed.

Marlene was an incredible cook. Kris thought her lasagna was her specialty. The entire family loved it very much.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; sons, Jamison Mapes and Kris Shoemaker; sister, Karen Herd; niece, Jennifer Cropp; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, and Levi, who she nicknamed "Little Elvis".

Marlene was a hard worker all her life and would have done anything to help somebody who needed it. We're all going to miss her very much.

Memorial service: 2pm Monday, March 5, 2012, Culbertson-Smith Mortuary Chapel, 115 S. Seneca. Memorials to Victory in the Valley.
