Basore, Marjorie L. (Powell), 88 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Margie has touched many lives throughout her life’s journey. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family and many friends. For 50 years, she provided daycare for as many as 26 children at a time. Children were her passion, and she was dedicated to her family.
She was married to her late husband B.E. Powell for 26 years, and married to her current husband, Donald R. Basore for 40 years.
Margie was a lifetime resident of Wichita. She graduated from Wichita North High School in 1944. She had a long tenure with Glen Park Christian Church in Wichita. She was a chartered member of Countryside Christian Church in Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her father, William L. Bobier; mother, Inez Lucille (Myers) Bobier; two brothers, William G. and Roland Bobier; her husband B.E. Powell; son, Gregory L. Powell; granddaughter, LaTisha Suzanne Powell, and grandson, William Jason Powell.
Margie is survived by her husband, Donald R. Basore of Wichita; two sons, William K. Powell (Cheryl) of Wichita and Gerald W. Powell (Karen) of Kingman; two sisters, Irene Pohlman of Peabody and Carrie Mayes (Max) of Andover; stepchildren, Susan Garafola, Steve Basore, and Sherry Basore; six grandchildren, Heather, Michael, LaDetra and Josh L. Powell, Heidi Mort, Jennifer Schneider; 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 with the family greeting friends from 6-8 Sunday at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita. Funeral Service will be at 11am Monday, August 25, 2014 at Countryside Christian Church, 1919 S. Rock Rd, Wichita. Interment to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley, KS. A memorial has been established with Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice, 3210 W. Kellogg Dr, Wichita, KS 67213.
