Margy Cords passed away August 29, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born January 6, 1939, to Eugene and Wathena (Howry) Hubbard in Enid, Oklahoma. Margy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Margy received her bachelor’s degree in education from Oklahoma State University and became an elementary school teacher in Enid, Oklahoma. As a teacher, she loved her students and fellow teachers. A few years later, a mutual friend introduced her to Bob while he was in flight school, who she married in 1966.
Margy was a dedicated Air Force wife for 26 years and enjoyed being actively involved in the Officers Wives Club. Volunteering was fulfilling for Margy, including seasonal decorating, baking and providing snacks for the troops. She enjoyed spending time with other military wives, and truly appreciated their friendship and mentorship. The military experience provided so many adventures and travel, which she enjoyed – especially the beach, which sparked a love of collecting seashells.
Margy was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. With her deep faith, she found ways to become involved, enabling her to grow in her faith and help others. She trained significantly to become a dedicated Stephen Minister, providing Christian care to help those who were hurting. She loved her time with the Morning Circle, providing love and fellowship to those going through a challenging time. She also enjoyed participating in Sunday school.
Her life has been centered around her love of family. She was married to Bob for 56 years, raised two boys, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a great friend, and a wonderful person, selfless and humble. Sending and receiving greeting cards from loved ones always brought her joy. She loved to read, color, paint and garden. She was quick to provide encouragement to others, always showing love, support and care.
Margy was preceded in death by her son Brad and loving husband Bob. She is survived by her son Bart and her beloved grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at Woodlawn United Methodist Church on September 10th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Minister fund, at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church of Derby, KS.
