Margaret Carol Wiens

Margaret Carol (Davis) Wiens, 85, of Derby passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Carol was born April 18, 1941, to Harry and Frances (Ray) Davis in Caldwell, KS. Carol and her brother Allan grew up in Caldwell where she graduated from high school in 1959.

Carol graduated from the nursing program at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO in 1976, commuting daily from Mexico, MO, to complete her studies. She worked as a nurse in Manhattan, KS, and at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita until her retirement.

Carol loved to knit and sew not only her own clothes but also created many gifts for her family and friends. She played bridge with her group of longtime friends in Derby and made a special effort to keep up with her classmates from Caldwell. She was the family historian and conducted many an annual Memorial Day pilgrimage to recount history and family landmarks. She is much appreciated for the care she took creating scrapbooks for each of her children,

Carol married Jack Wiens on July 3, 1983, in Wichita KS. Carol and Jack enjoyed being "snowbirds" and spending their winters in southern Texas near where her parents had wintered as well. Carol was an avid traveler with notable trips to Cambodia, Alaska, Ireland and Switzerland.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brother Allan and her mother-in-law Edith Wiens.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Wiens; children: Curtis (Jennifer) Bradford, Warrensburg MO, Brian Bradford, Derby KS, Susanne Bradford, Wichita KS; grandchildren: Rachael Bradford of Warrensburg, MO, and Greg (Cassie) Bradford of Warrensburg, MO; great grandchildren; Valerie, Andrea and Johnathan Bradford of Warrensburg, MO; sisters-in-law Cheryl Davis, Virginia Scott, Jo (Warren) Harbert; nephew, Zach (Nickole) Davis of Wichita, niece, Jordan (Jerod) Heiman of Wichita, cousin Virginia (Bob) Lusinski of Boston, MA; great-nephews and niece.A memorial service is planned for 2 pm, June 26,2026 at Smith Mortuary-Derby Chapel.Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2872 N Ridge Rd #122, Wichita, KS 67205.
