Margaret Ann Clemence

Our lives are formed by the choices we make. Margaret Ann Johnson Clemence made all the right choices in her 97 years of life.

She chose happiness. Happiness in the form of love, family, laughter, smiles and bird watching. Most of all she chose God as the foundation of her life.

She loved her husband of 72 years, Don K Clemence, her children Diana (Dean) Palmer, Martin (Ann) Clemence & Mark (Catherine) Clemence, her five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, fourteen brothers and sisters, extended family and friends.

Her warm smile spread instant happiness. Following her mother’s example, she sent happiness in the form of birthday and anniversary cards. Mailing over 300 a year.

Bird watching, traveling and reading brought her happiness. Visiting and bird watching in all fifty states, Canada and Mexico. With one back yard bird sighting documented in ornithological records.

Margaret is survived by her three children, grandchildren: Crystal (Jon) Staveness, Robert Clemence, Jason (Jennifer) Gingerich, Alisha Gingerich: Great Grandchildren: Casey Gingerich, Jaden Gingerich, Ashton Gingerich, Jaycee Gingerich, Daemyn Staveness, Terran Staveness, Aiden Staveness; sister Karen Williams of Valley Center, KS and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Don K Clemence, granddaughter Amanda Clemence, parents William Henry and Minnie Ann (Christein) Johnson II, brothers: Dale (Sydney/Phyllis), Marvin (Ninon), Neal (Fay Alice), Billy (Patricia/Alice), Dean (JoAnn/Sharon), Paul (Colleen); sisters Mina (Cecil) Clark, Lois (Al) Hanks, Joyce (Gordon) Jorgenson, Barbara (Vince) Schoenecker, Beverley (Glenn) Stults, Gaylene (Don) King, Judy (Glenn) Kittle and brother-in-law Roger Williams.

Visitation will be Sunday August 30, 2026 from 5-7pm at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S Seneca, with family in attendance.

Service will be Monday August 31, 2026, at 10am, West Heights UMC, 745 N Westlink, Wichita, KS. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, 1005 N Hillside, Wichita.
