Lynda Warren was born in Fairfax, OK on January 22, 1948 to Mary Jane (Hall) and Meredith Harris. She entered Heaven on March 31, 2017 after a courageous battle against ALS. Visitation 1-8 Tuesday with the family present from 5-7 at Smith Mortuary, Derby. Funeral 10am Wednesday at South Rock Christian Church, 900 S. Rock Rd, Derby, followed by graveside service 3pm at Riverside Cemetery, Ralston, Ok. Lynda lived the life of typical teenager in Fairfax, Oklahoma. It was there that she met her future husband Jim Warren. They celebrated 50 years together on June 21, 2016. After their marriage, life took them to Derby, Kansas, where they raised two children, Dee and Stacie. Family was important to Lynda and extended family played an important role in her life. Lynda was a dedicated employee of Derby USD 260 for more than 30 years. Her career there began at Cooper Elementary and took her to support services for the Special Education Department at the Educational Support Center. She adored her co workers and the students with whom she was privileged to serve. It was in retirement, though, that Lynda hit her stride. She became increasingly active in her church, South Rock Christian, and maintained contact with colleagues and Derby students by volunteering weekly at the high school. When she wasn't serving others, she was enjoying her four grandkids who were the light of her life: college freshmen, Mackenzie and JD; high school sophomores Maya and Kaylee. She is survived by her husband Jim; son Dee Warren, wife Kim, of Salina; daughter Stacie Winslow, husband Bryant, of Highlands Ranch, CO; brother Mickey Harris, wife Francine, of Temple, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Augie's Fight For A Cure - committed to curing ALS - To donate on behalf of Lynda, please visit https://www.classy.org/campaign/lynda-warren-family-fund/c115443, or The Children's Ministry Building at South Rock Christian Church, 900 S.
