Lyle E. Winder, 93, passed away June 4, 2024. He was born June 26, 1930 at Corwin Farm in Waldo, KS, to George M. Winder and Mary E. Corwin. He grew up in Oberlin and Portis, KS, and graduated from Portis High School in 1948.
On November 9, 1951, he married Frances J. Dean. They made their home in Derby, KS. Lyle served in the military and also worked in the oil fields, retiring from Cessna Aircraft and the Boeing Company.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fran Winder, and daughter Barbara Proulx. Survivors include half-sister Esther Keister, daughter Pat Kennedy, son Steve Winder and his wife, son Kenny Winder and his wife; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lyle was an active member in his church. He was honored by the Derby Senior Center for his outstanding dedication and service. Lyle loved to hunt, fish, and play cards with his friends, but his true passion and love was for his family.
Viewing 5-7pm Monday, June 10, 2024 at Smith Mortuary in Derby. Services 11am Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Pleasantview Baptist Church in Derby. Interment will be in El Paso Cemetery in Derby. A luncheon will be provided by the church for family and friends following the service.
Memorials are being accepted in his name for the Pleasantview Baptist Church.
