Rose Hill, KS Loy W Eary 91, died Monday, October 16th, 2023. He was born August 11th, 1932 to Freeman SR and Isabell (Brown) Eary in Weleetka, Oklahoma.
Loy Eary was in the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean War, and then retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. Loy also helped found the Rose Hill EMS where he volunteered 1981-1986. Loy enjoyed
spending time with his family, working on clocks, and watching OU Football. Loy is also known by many as the “Can Man” for collecting aluminum cans (approx. 5,000 lbs.) to raise money to send Veterans on Kansas Honor
Flights.
He was preceded in death by his father, Freeman SR and mother, Isabell; son, Donald Wayne Eary; and siblings, Loveless, Freeman Jr., Jessie, Lake, Sue, Marlene, Jill, and Argyle.
Loy is survived by his wife, Mary Alpers Eary; siblings, Sybil and Finis; daughter, Lisa Eary Schroeder (Joseph); grandchildren, Bryce Schroeder (Meghan) and Brenna Schroeder (Ross); and great grandchildren, Peyton
and Wyatt Schroeder.
Visitation: Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Smith Family Mortuary Chapel 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby, Kansas 67037. Casket will be open one hour before service. Funeral Service: 11:00 am,
Thursday, October 19th, 2023 at Rose Hill Christian Church 314 N. Rose Hill Rd. Rose Hill, KS 67133. Interment to follow at Rose Hill. Cemetery.
