It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lou Jean Thompson, who departed peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of eighty-six in Mulvane, Kansas. Born in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Elmer Phillips and Mervel Phillips, Lou Jean devoted her life to her family and touched many through her work as a beautician and a telecommunications customer service agent.

Lou Jean was renowned for her warmth, generosity, and hospitality. She found joy in gardening, sewing, canning, and cooking, creating cherished memories for her loved ones. Her home was always open, and her kindness left an impression on all who knew her.

On October 5, 1968, Lou Jean married George Thompson in Modesto, California. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter until George’s passing in 2007. Afterward, Lou Jean moved to California with her daughter and traveled to four military assignments before retiring.

Lou Jean is survived by her daughter, Lori (Robbie Flori); son, Allen (Laura Ross); grandchildren, Alexander Flori, Jordan Flori, Heather Peralta (Jose Peralta), Michael Ross, and Shaw Ross; Keya Odom, as well as six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thompson, her sister Nancy Thompson, and her parents.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Lou Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
