Loren Eason Fred, age 99, retired linotype operator for the Wichita Eagle, died Thursday, November 11, 2010. No visitation. Memorial service 10 am Tuesday, Woodland United Methodist Church, 1100 W. 15th St.. Loren was a US Army veteran and served his country during WW II as a Corporal, Battery B, 915th FA Bn. He retired in 1976 and together he and his wife, Agnes, traveled to all 50 states and their capitals. Loren was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church where he was an active and faithful member of the Blenders Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Lorene Love; parents, Byron & Maude Fred; brothers, Nathan, Horace and Buster Fred. Survivors: nephews, Tom Hudson, Derby, David Fred, Denver, CO; nieces, Elma Ash, Derby, Helen Strickland, Emory, TX; caregiver, Ginger Merlau, Wichita. Memorials have been established with Woodland United Methodist Church, 1100 W. 15th St., Wichita, KS 67203 and Lakepoint Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 1315 N. West St., Wichita, KS 67203.
