Lonny Dale Rohr

Lonny Dale Rohr, 75, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. Born on July 7, 1950, in Leroy, Kansas, Lonny lived a full and spirited life marked by hard work, humor, and an unwavering willingness to help others. The son of William and Charlotte Rohr, Lonny grew up surrounded by family, laughter, and a strong sense of community. He served his country with honor, completing two tours in Vietnam as a proud U.S. Army veteran, later continuing his service in the Army National Guard until retirement on July 7 th 2010. His dedication to his country was matched by his commitment to his profession, spending many years working in the aircraft industry at Raytheon.

Lonny was known for his big heart and even bigger personality. He never met a stranger and often went out of his way to lend a hand—sometimes quite literally, as he was known to stop and help those stranded along the roadside. Always quick with a prank or a joke, Lonny had a gift for lifting spirits wherever he went. Beyond his work, he was constantly busy with side jobs and projects, a testament to his tireless work ethic.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—squirrel hunting, flathead fishing, casino trips, road adventures, and two-stepping to good country music. These passions reflected his love for the outdoors and his zest for living life to the fullest. 

Lonny is survived by his wife, Alice Rohr; his children, Jon Stubbs, Jason Rohr, Tracie Hahn, Jarrod Rohr, and Austin Rohr; his siblings, Neal, Ronny, and Jeanette; and many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Charlotte Rohr, Eddie and Bill (brothers) and Neva (Sister).

A service celebrating Lonny’s life will be held on Friday, December 19, at 1:00 p.m. at RiverTree Christian Church, 301 W. Miller Rd, Iola, KS 66749. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Midwest Battle Buddies, honoring Lonny’s lifelong commitment to his fellow veterans.
